Primary Scope:
- CyBourn took on the responsibility for the security management of the DC Courts website, which entailed the following tasks:
- Ensuring integrity within the programs to identify the existence of system discrepancies.
- Complying with policies and security standards set by the DC Courts IT Enterprise Architecture Board.
- Developing file protection features to limit operation types that can be performed by individuals.
- Documenting in electronic format step-by-step instructions for the mapping of configuration and re-establishing application configurations within the infrastructure.
- Providing material support in migration, enterprise architecture, engineering, configuration, disaster recovery, business continuity, project planning, and enterprise security.
Key Issues and Challenges:
- The significant challenge was the replacement of the DC Courts infrastructure for all their web applications, which required taking many local infrastructure elements and migrating them to the cloud.
- Another crucial task was reviewing all applications in this infrastructural overhaul process to improve performance and save money.
- Lastly, authoring all technical documentation required for the planning and execution for the deployment of the new infrastructure was a key part of the project that needed meticulous attention to detail.
Results
By following the planned scope, CyBourn successfully managed to bring significant improvements to the DC Courts’ IT infrastructure. The rigorous process of replacing the existing setup with a cloud-based solution was executed efficiently, which saw a marked improvement in application performance and cost savings. Furthermore, the regular vulnerability scans performed by CyBourn have ensured the ongoing operational security of the new infrastructure. The up-to-date technical documentation facilitated smoother operations and future reference for maintenance and troubleshooting. In all, CyBourn has significantly contributed to improving the security, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of DC Courts’ IT operations.
